Job Description

The Corporate Controller will be the primary person responsible for providing day-to-day leadership for the company’s accounting operations and financial reporting obligations. The Corporate Controller will direct the company’s accounting and financial reporting policies in a manner that properly reflects the financial position of the company and is in accordance with US GAAP requirements. As a key member of the management team, the Controller will serve as the lead on building the accounting infrastructure, standardizing processes, ensuring tax compliance, managing the monthly close process, audits, and preparing analyses as needed for our growing, entrepreneurial company. This position reports to the CFO.

Qualifications

  • Direct all company accounting processes and functions, including timely and accurate recording and reporting of all financial transactions and account reconciliations
  • Drive a timely monthly close process, quarterly reviews, and audits 
  • Manage the following accounting related responsibilities:

    o Internal and external reporting
    o General ledger management & analysis
    o Inventory management
    o Accounts receivable
    o Accounts payable
    o Fixed assets
    o Reserves
    o Intangible assets

    Perform pre-issuance technical review of financial statements
    • Prepare US GAAP multi-location/division and consolidated financial statements
    • Develop key financial policies and procedures, including implementing and maintaining policies
    • Ensure that accounting activities and reporting are in accordance with established legal, regulatory, and company procedures
    • Treasury management including daily cash management, reporting, weekly borrowing base certificate preparation, and weekly 13-week cash forecasting
    • Ensure sound internal controls
    • Analyze profit and loss drivers within the business and identify cost control measures and initiatives to ensure that the organization is run in a cost-effective manner
    • Manage the relationship with external auditors
    • Assist CFO with all accounting matters including advising other departments on policy structures with respect to accounting and tax implications
    • Tax compliance including:
    o Direct the preparation and timely filing of all required tax returns and other statutory filings including but not limited to:
     Federal income taxes
     State, local, franchise taxes
     Sales & use tax
     International tax returns & compliance
    o Periodic nexus analyses
    o Annual tax provision oversight
    o Manage relationship with external tax partner
    o Direct and oversee tax structuring, and tax-related policies & procedures
    • Advise, support and oversee international financial reporting and compliance functions
    • Manage Support Executive’s team reporting requirements and requests
    • Create and implement short and long range departmental objectives, policies, and operating procedures
    • Establish and maintain an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the department’s objectives, and to support our financial reporting environment
    • Continuous improvement of accounting processes and functions
    • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department staff members
    • Staff development - provide effective coaching and feedback as well as appropriate task delegation, career pathing, and periodic employee reviews
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, Master’s degree highly preferred
    • Minimum 3 years public accounting, preferably with a national firm
    • Current CPA license
    • 7+ years proven record of managing, recruiting, and motivating a financial accounting team
    • 3+ years of relevant work experience driving the corporate accounting policies for an international manufacturing and sales organization
    • High level of technical competence of US GAAP and other accounting procedures is required
    • Current on best practices, compliance and ethical business practices
    • Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills
    • Highest level of personal integrity and maturity
    • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects while simultaneously meeting all goals and deadlines
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint
    • Proven leader for a company through a period of growth
