Job Description

The Safety Coordinator will proactively facilitate safe working systems and practices, coach and assist management, staff and employees whilst driving a safety culture across relevant sites and organisation.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

NATIONAL (approx 20%)

  • Input to OHS strategy and development of appropriate tactical responses
  • Ensure Safety Management Framework is up to date, relevant to operating sites, and delivers to objective of being holistic management tool that provides a safe workplace
  • Ongoing development of policies and processes
  • Maintenance of national OHS Database
  • Local ownership of global Incident Management System – maintenance of records, access and manipulation of information
  • Ad hoc reporting
  • Program development and implementation eg. Behavioral program (RBS)
  • Support of global and Corporate initiatives
  • Input into Claims Management strategies

SITE SPECIFIC (80%) – All ANZ sites and relevant Management and Supervisors   

Administrative

  • Maintain records of incidents for sites – hard copy and IMS records
  • Ensure maintenance of Training / Hazard registers
  • Report incidents of note to other sites
  • Record Site Monthly reports.

Operational

  • Hazard Management (Hazard identification, Risk assessment and Control) practices assist relevant managers to Develop local SOPs and work practices
  • Incident management - esp. assessing root cause analysis of incidents, developing and monitoring corrective actions
  • Identification, Development and co-ordination of training needs (incl. Toolbox)
  • Implementation, maintenance and overall ownership of Safety Framework standards
  • Follow up of OHS activities and issues
  • Site Safety Committee meetings
  • Coaching of Managers, Supervisors, and Employees in ensuring a risk free working environment and driving effective safe behavior
  • Participation in local Safety Committees where required
  • Occasional delivery of EHS related training
  • Co-ordination of site emergency response practices
  • RTW co-ordination

 Advisory

  • Communication of OHS information to Management and employees
  • Monitor Corporate and legislative updates and OHS developments
  • Development and liaising with appropriate networks – eg. external providers, local safety reps and Government agencies.

Other Responsibilities

  • Environment - Data collection and reporting of environmental information
  • May be occasional requirements to deal with site security and Risk Management issues.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years OHS practitioner in an industrial environment
  • Preferably exposure to multiple sites
  • Exposure to conducting audits will be well regarded
  • Tertiary studies in OHS (or related fields) well regarded
  • Technical training certificate (or equivalent) well regarded
  • Previous experience in project management and project management methodologies.
  • Proactive, resourceful and self-driven individual
  • Comfortable working across boundaries and holding self and others to account
  • Professional and competent communicator (both verbal and written)
  • Maintain good relationship and communication with internal / external stakeholders.
  • Capable and proficient with spreadsheets, databases and technical product data / terms
  • Willingness to improve existing processes and systems
