Job Description

The Documentation department is a department that supports U.S. and international customers’ import, export, and other trade activities through the processing and servicing of universally recognized commercial Letters of Credit and other trade finance products.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of associates in managing high volume time-sensitive Letter of Credits and other trade documentation effectively
  • Streamline, reduce cost and manage the risks of transactions for the company
  • Maintain continuing relationships with banks to retain and develop business
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends, products, and technology
  • Responsible for managing associates engaged in trade operational and support activities
  • Resolve escalated customer issues and inquiries
  • Ensures adherence to all US and foreign regulatory compliance procedures
  • Liaise and work with overseas teams in delivering services to customers in multiple time zones
  • Make recommendations to changes in existing policies, practices and procedures
  • Mitigate and monitor potential risks while ensuring that departmental controls and procedures are current and modified as necessary
  • Shoulder accountability for department's financial and operational performance
  • Develop staff measurement goals, succession and development planning efforts, and performance management processes
  • Coordinate and participate in special projects as needed

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of leadership experience
  • 7+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: international trade, logistics, or financial services
  • Possess profound knowledge of Letter of Credit and ICC Uniform Customs and Practice (UCP) documentary credits rules and terms
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of UCP 600
  • Experience in managing appropriate risks
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to assess issues, make quick decisions, implement solutions, and influence changes
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including training, coaching, and mentoring
  • Ability to manage and lead teams in a high pressure, high standard, and high transaction processing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with multiple levels of staff, managers and business partners across multiple sites and time zones
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills in English and Chinese
