We are looking for a Senior Game Designer to join Montpellier Studio team. 

Job Description

As a Senior Game Designer, you will be responsible for developing game systems, controls, interfaces, and interactive elements based on the creative direction's vision. You will take ownership of assigned features and assist other designers when needed.

Your goal is to deliver a flawless player experience. You will follow an iterative and hands-on process to refine and balance your designs, transforming them from concepts into gameplay. You will tweak and fine-tune them until they result in a smooth and engaging player experience.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of specific topics from ideation to integration.
  • Understand and expand upon existing features and mechanics while respecting the game's creative direction.
  • Standardize, document, and communicate systems to the game team—you will be a driving force in this area.
  • Regularly update documentation to provide a useful reference for the entire team at any time.
  • Actively participate in prototyping to refine and validate systems before moving to full production.
  • Work closely with Programming, Art, and Level Design teams to implement assigned features.
  • Define the necessary information players need to make meaningful and well-informed decisions in the game, through the interface or menus.
  • Identify and promote best practices in game design.
  • Provide design coaching to other designers.
  • Suggest improvements to tools and pipelines.
  • Be comfortable with game system balancing.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Senior Game Designer, with at least one AA/AAA title shipped on console/PC, preferably in open-world action-adventure games.
  • Deep understanding of the full game development cycle, from concept to live operations.
  • Experience leading one or more design topics from conception to implementation.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and adopt the right strategy to deliver features within given constraints.
  • Strong player experience focus.
  • Familiarity with game engines commonly used in the industry.
  • Excellent teamwork skills—able to unite a team around a common goal.
  • Recognized for strong communication skills.
  • Known for maintaining positive and efficient professional relationships.
  • Organized and structured in your workflow.
  • Excellent ability to clearly express ideas in both French and English, orally and in writing.
  • Strong critical thinking and curiosity.
