Ubisoft Bordeaux

Founded in 2017, Ubisoft Bordeaux works with passion on the biggest AAA titles to deliver the best gaming experiences. Today, the studio is composed of 400 talents from 20 different nationalities, working on licenses such as Assassin's Creed, Beyond Good & Evil 2 and a free to play game, BattleCore Arena. At the same time, the studio has set up a Tech branch which works on all Ubisoft's online services (named Online Services) as well as on the Anvil game engine. Ubisoft Bordeaux is also home to a R&D team, La Forge, which brings together engineers and researchers to work together on prototypes for game production, particularly around AI topics.

Job Description

Within the World team for the production of a new AAA game and in close collaboration with Level Artists, Quest Designers, and other project departments, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Collaborate with the Content Director and Lead Designers to bring innovative ideas to all aspects of game design.
  • Design and implement game areas.
  • Conceptualize, design, lead, and create game levels.
  • Create design documentation based on the direction provided by the Creative Director and lead designers.
  • Work closely with the Game Design & Tech team to ensure that layouts align with existing systems.
  • Collaborate closely with the Art and Quest teams to design balanced, readable environments that enhance the player experience.
  • Validate the playability of environments with testers, artists, and gameplay programmers.
  • Be a driving force within the team and mentor more junior profiles.
  • Support the lead Level Designer in cross-functional tasks.

Qualifications

  • You have solid experience in Level Design roles, ideally on AAA games, and across the entire production phase, up to shipping.
  • You possess strong knowledge in blocking, world building, and level building.
  • You have a good ability to illustrate your intentions and are receptive to feedback.
  • You are creative, analytical, autonomous, and detail-oriented.
  • You are fluent in English.
  • You are passionate about video game creation and have a deep knowledge of video game culture.

  • Location: Ubisoft Bordeaux – France
  • Remote: On site-based role. Weekly work from home pace to define
