Job Description
Accountabilities:
- Development of internal software and methods to aid in the hydraulic design of hydroturbines
- Internal software documentation, validation, release, and control
- Validation of CFD methods against scale model data and field test data
- Provide internal training on software and methods as needed
- Management of commercial software needed for development, including Ansys, compiling software, Python etc.
Main Responsibilities

- Develop internal software and methods to support the supply of high performance, innovative solutions for custom hydroturbine designs
- Development and maintenance of hydraulic engineering computer software
- Provide flexible software support to the Hydraulic Engineering department
- Strive to be flexible while managing priorities and time effectively
- Become proficient in use of company design/analysis software and interpretation of the results
- Gain proficiency as needed for multiple programming languages and platforms, such as VBA, Python, Fortran, Ansys etc.
- Occasional preparation of technical papers and presentations at major conferences
- Collaboration with outside entities to develop new hydroturbine design and analysis technologies
- Conduct internal design reviews with multi-disciplinary teams as needed to develop internal software, methods, and products
- Perform data reduction and prepare tabular/graphical presentations
- Provide occasional direct engineering support to complete hydraulic designs for proposal phase and contract phase projects.
- Train and provide technical support to co-ops and less experienced engineers
Development Responsibilities
- This position is focused on development of hydroturbine design technology
Authorities
- Validation of internal software and methods
Qualifications
Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. MS or Ph.D. with specialization in turbomachinery CFD methods is preferred
Required Experience: 3-5 years of CFD related experience in turbomachinery preferred
Travel Requirements: Less than 10%
