Job Description

The Fabrication Shop Supervisor works in conjunction with the Fab Shop Superintendent to plan and execute all work in a safe manner. The Supervisor will promote a culture of safety and adherence to policies across their shift. It is the responsibility of the Supervisor to carry out work instructions handed to them from the preceding shift as well as accurately passing along instructions to the following shift.  The Fabrication Shop Supervisor is responsible for the training and development of the team members on their shift. 

Objectives:

  • Directs the work force in a timely and efficient manner
  • Follows up to see that assignments are carried out
  • Checks the quality of work in process and also finished work
  • Provides training as necessary
  • Works with Maintenance department to keep all equipment maintained and in good working condition
  • Assist with production work to maintain schedules
  • Keep Fab Shop Superintendent informed of any problems with manufacturing safety or personnel problems
  • Inform Fab Shop Superintendent and Maintenance Manager of any maintenance problems
  • Conduct performance reviews, approve time sheets and PTO requests

Measurements:

  • Execution of personnel development plans
  • Timely implementation of improvement initiatives
  • Planned work is executed on-time and within budget
  • Quality meets customer expectations

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
